Private Mode & Watermark Explained

Private Mode controls who sees your work inside Cliprise. Cliprise does not add its own branding watermark on normal exports; for provider marks on some routes (e.g. Sora), use the dedicated watermark-removal utility—not privacy toggles.

Whether you are building a personal portfolio or testing early ideas, you decide who can see your work inside Cliprise. Cliprise does not add its own branding watermark on top of normal catalog exports—limits are credits, model access, and licensing. That is separate from optional post-processing when a third-party model leaves a visible mark (for example some Sora outputs still carry OpenAI branding): then you use a dedicated utility such as Sora 2 Watermark Remove, not Private Mode. Learn more about safety and copyright, AI video without platform watermarks, and community sharing best practices.

What Private Mode Does

When Private Mode = ON

  • Generation is visible only to you in your Profile and My Creations
  • Hidden from Community feed, Explore grid, and Social board
  • File still generates via CDN (signed URL), but not publicly indexed
  • Ideal for: client projects, drafts, experiments, or personal content you're not ready to share

Food photography: spaghetti, hamburger, salad, cake

When Private Mode = OFF

  • Your creation is eligible for Community showcase and featured sections
  • Others can like, comment, or remix (if remix is enabled)
  • Great for: social exposure, portfolio building, and referral rewards
  • Your work can inspire others and attract followers

Gourmet spread: steak, soup, salad, berry desserts, candle

Important Note
Private Mode only affects visibility inside Cliprise, not file ownership - you remain the creator either way. Your content, your control, always.

Why It Matters for Creators

Stay Private Until Ready

Test lighting, framing, or animation variations without publishing. Iterate fearlessly.

Protect Client Work

Keep NDA projects and commissioned work off public feeds. Privacy means professionalism.

Avoid Duplicate Ideas

Hide work-in-progress concepts before launch. Maintain competitive edge.

Control Your Brand Presence

Publish only finished art that represents your vision. Curate what defines you.

"Privacy isn't about hiding - it's about choosing when to shine."

Three different things people call “watermark”

1) Cliprise branding on your file
Cliprise does not burn in a Cliprise logo or “made with Cliprise” overlay on downloads from the consumer app. Free vs paid differs by credits, models, and rights—not by unlocking a Cliprise corner mark.

2) Provider / model watermarks (still a real workflow)
Some upstream pipelines can still deliver video with a visible third-party mark (typical example: OpenAI branding on certain Sora clips). That is not the old “Cliprise free tier watermark.” When you need those marks cleaned for delivery, use the dedicated post-process route documented as Sora 2 Watermark Remove (credits and eligibility—confirm in the live app).

3) Metadata and provenance
Providers may attach metadata (for example C2PA or other signals). That is separate from a visible logo—check in-app labels and your compliance needs before shipping client work.

Private Mode only controls (1)-adjacent visibility: who can see the asset inside Cliprise. It does not strip provider logos or replace the removal utility in (2).

Toggling Private Mode in the app

Control who can discover your work inside Cliprise:

1️⃣ When previewing a generation, open the "⋯ More" (or equivalent) menu

2️⃣ Toggle Private Mode → ON/OFF
Choose whether this creation is eligible for public Community feeds and discovery surfaces

Hint: Exact control names can shift slightly between web and mobile builds—if you do not see Private Mode, check the latest in-app help or pricing for visibility rules on your plan.

Privacy vs Ownership Clarification

Let's clear up any confusion about what you own and what privacy means:

All Assets You Generate Remain Yours

Private Mode does not transfer rights or restrict downloads. You created it, you own it.

Cliprise branding vs removal tools

You do not upgrade to remove a Cliprise logo from normal exports—there isn’t one. You upgrade for credits and commercial licensing.

If you are trying to remove a provider watermark from an eligible clip (for example Sora-sourced video), that is a separate product path: Sora 2 Watermark Remove. Do not confuse that utility with Private Mode; privacy toggles do not run inpainting on your pixels.

Secure Storage

We store private files securely through tokenized CDN links (valid for 15 minutes each). Your content is protected, not exposed.

Privacy = Visibility Control

Private Mode simply controls who can see your work in the app. It doesn't delete, transfer, or limit your rights in any way.

Common Misunderstandings

MisconceptionReality
❌ "Private means deleted."✅ No, it's just hidden from public feeds. You can access it anytime.
❌ "Private mode changes who owns the file."✅ Visibility in Cliprise is separate from ownership—check your plan terms for commercial license details.
❌ "Public mode exposes private info."✅ No, only media you choose to share is visible. No metadata leaks.
❌ "Private files aren't secure."✅ All files use encrypted, tokenized URLs with expiry protection.

Security Details (for transparency)

We take your content security seriously. Here's what happens behind the scenes:

Signed CDN URLs with 15-minute expiry tokens

Every file access generates a fresh, time-limited signature. Old links expire automatically.

Direct hotlinking blocked outside Cliprise domains

Your media can't be embedded or scraped from external sites without authorization.

Encryption in transit and at rest

All uploads, downloads, and storage use industry-standard encryption protocols.

No permanent public URLs for private content

Private generations never receive static, shareable links that could leak.
